Midi (5 mm) is the default size everywhere — the cheapest beads and the widest color range. Maxi is also sold as Biggie.
The standard square pegboard is 29×29 pegs — about 14.5 cm of midi beads. Boards interlock, so a bigger design just spans several of them. Set your own number if your board differs.
Beads roll off the board, and a misfused section is worth redoing rather than living with.
One bead, one peg
Finished size = beads × bead pitch, because every bead sits on exactly one peg. Midi beads are 5 mm, so two beads per centimeter and 29 of them across a standard board. 계산기에 쓰인 계산식은 완성 크기 = 비즈 개수 × 비즈 간격이에요. 비즈 하나가 정확히 핀 하나에 꽂히기 때문이에요. 미디 비즈는 5mm로 1cm에 2개이고, 미니는 2.6mm, 맥시(Biggie라는 이름으로도 팔려요)는 10mm예요. 모양판 수는 같은 나눗셈을 모양판에 적용한 것으로, 도안 너비÷모양판 너비를 올림해서 가로와 세로 각각 구해요.
모양판 크기는 처음 하는 사람이 생각하는 것보다 중요해요. 표준 정사각형 모양판은 29×29칸이고 미디 비즈로 약 14.5cm인데, 그보다 큰 작품은 맞물린 모양판 여러 장에 걸쳐 만들고 구역별로 다림질해야 해요. 문제는 아니에요. 큰 작품은 다 그렇게 만들거든요. 다만 너비 145개짜리 도안이 모양판 스물다섯 장에 걸친다는 걸 시작하기 전에 알아 두면 좋아요.
