How many Presencia Finca colors are there?

Presencia Finca Mouliné offers 321 colors in total (288 solid plus 33 variegated) of six-strand embroidery floss — this chart includes 241 of those with DMC and Anchor equivalents. The range is smaller than DMC (489) or Cosmo (500), but covers the core spectrum well and includes some distinctive shades — particularly in the warm earth tones and reds — that Presencia fans swear by.

Presencia also produces one of the most extensive Perle cotton lines available: 123 solid colors and 33 variegated colors across sizes 3, 5, 8, 12, and 16. That's more perle cotton options than any other brand. This chart covers the mouliné (stranded) floss only.

Finca uses its own numbering system, running roughly from 1000 to 8785 with gaps. Conversion charts to DMC and Anchor are available and make substitution easy.

About Presencia Finca

Presencia Hilaturas S.L. is a Spanish thread manufacturer producing the Finca line of embroidery threads. The mouliné floss is 100% extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton, mercerized for strength — the same raw material specification as DMC and Anchor. What sets Finca apart in practice is its reputation for smoothness. Stitchers who've tried it consistently describe it as silkier and less prone to tangling than DMC, with excellent dye saturation.

The floss is sold in 8-meter skeins (the same length as DMC), is six-strand and divisible, and works for cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, petit point, Hardanger, and Swedish/huck weaving.

Presencia makes a distinctive durability claim: all Finca mouliné colors are not just colorfast but bleach-fast — with only five exceptions (1163, 1166, 3802, 3810, and 3822). Those five are colorfast and run-fast but not bleach-fast. This level of specificity about which colors can withstand bleaching is unusual in the embroidery thread market and speaks to the brand's textile heritage.

In the US, Presencia threads are distributed by Colonial Needle Company. The brand also maintains an Etsy shop (PresenciaHilaturas) for direct-to-consumer sales. Availability is strongest in the US and Spain — finding Finca in the UK or continental Europe outside Spain may require specialty ordering.

Stitchers comparing Presencia to other premium cottons often put it alongside Cosmo (another brand known for exceptional smoothness, from Japan) and Madeira (German-made, with a slightly longer skein length). All three occupy the "premium quality, smaller range" tier — fewer colors than DMC but a devoted following among stitchers who've tried them.

Finca has a devoted following in the Hardanger and redwork communities, where its smoothness and durability matter most. It's less commonly specified in cross stitch patterns than DMC or Anchor, but stitchers who discover it tend to become loyal advocates.
