Perler, Hama, and Artkal midi beads are all 5 mm and fit the same pegboards — the brands differ in palette, not size. So when a pattern is written in Perler colors and your drawer is full of Artkal (or the reverse), the pattern itself needs no change at all: only the color list does.

Are the conversions exact?

No conversion between brands is exact — each brand dyes its own palette, and some colors have no close twin anywhere else. The match percentage measures how close the pairing is: 93%+ is virtually indistinguishable, below 75% is a visible difference worth checking against real beads.

How is the match percentage calculated?

CIEDE2000 perceptual color distance — the industry standard for how different two colors look to the human eye — computed on community-matched hex values for each palette.

Which brand has the most colors?

Of the three, Artkal's S-series is the largest at 210 midi colors, roughly double Perler's 117; Hama's midi range is 92. More colors means finer shading for detailed pieces — and more near-duplicates to sort through.
